Jan is the Director of the Behavioral Science program within the Family Medicine Residency Program at Hunterdon Medical Center. She has been on the faculty for 26 years. The extensive behavioral science curriculum includes didactics, resident case presentations, Balint, one-on-one teaching time, and precepting.
Besides teaching the behavioral science curriculum, Jan is part of the core faculty at Hunterdon Medical Center. As a core faculty member, Jan has been active in developing new ideas, particularly for the community medicine and professionalism curriculum. Jan tends to take a collaborative, facilitative, and mentoring role in her relationships with residents.
Jan enjoys teaching residents about primary care counseling by seeing patients with residents. She also has expertise in teaching residents the nuances of patient relationships.
Jan holds a master’s degree from Pratt Institute as a creative arts therapist and is a board-certified art therapist. In addition, Jan is also a graduate of the Family Institute of Philadelphia and a licensed marriage and family therapist. She is a clinical member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists. She maintains a private practice in Riegelsville, Pennsylvania where she lives on a small farm with her son and a few horses.
