Danissa became passionate about family medicine through her Sophie Davis BS/MD program. She experienced all of her clinical curriculum in underserved urban areas. Danissa saw firsthand how patients struggled to organize and follow up with the various providers they had for their multiple health conditions. It was because of this Danissa decided to pursue family medicine to be able to comprehensively take care of patients through all stages of life. Danissa has a special interest in adolescent medicine because it is an extremely pivotal point in a patient’s life where they undergo many changes and experience additional stress. Danissa hopes to positively impact this vulnerable population with her knowledge and empathy. In addition to her passion for medicine, Danissa is a lover of performing arts. She has spent many years doing ballet, tap, and contemporary dance, as well as playing flute and piano.
